Welcome to Hinksey Heights
At Hinksey Heights - The Oxford Golf Course - you will find an 18 hole championship course described by one of the organisers of this year's Elite European Senior Tour match as 'an inland links course with the most remarkable views of Oxford's dreaming spires'. Set just on the edge of the city, visitors, business people and residents enjoy their game in one of the most outstanding areas of beauty in the Thames Valley. With an active membership of the club there is always plenty of activity on the main course as well as the 9-hole par 3 course.
With the opening of the New 9 hole Spires course by Sir Bobby Robson in the summer of 2006 there are now three courses which offer all players a challenging day's play. The 18 hole, 7000 yard main course has been described by a visiting professional as "... an inland links course set in the heart of the English countryside ...". Each hole has been designed to ensure that this will be a thinking golfers course. Set out for some heart-pounding golf! The 939 yard 9 hole Par 3 Golf Course is available for all standards of golfer to play in competition or for practice and tuition purposes. Every hole is of a different length requiring the player to choose carefully which iron to use.
The licensed clubhouse is always buzzing with conversation as golfers recount the events of the day over a meal and a drink.
For visitors our resident professionals can provide clubs and other equipment. They have all the teaching and practise facilities you would expect and a few not available on all courses. There are practise facilities which enable the professionals to quickly analyse your swing and give advice on the best type of equipment to help improve your game. This can help to secure an official handicap which has proved to be of immense value to those visitors returning to their home country after an extended stay in the UK.
Oxford's historic city is a huge visitor attraction (not just for Morse fans!) and Hinksey Heights, only a short taxi ride from the centre, is used by conference delegates and business people from around the world. Some come only to visit the attractive Nature Trail which adjoins the golf courses.
Whilst we do not insist on visitors having Handicap certificates, we do ask that they understand golf etiquette and are correctly dressed i.e. shirt with collar attached, trousers or tailored shorts in the Summer (no jeans) and golf shoes (no trainers). The dress code is less formal on the par 3 course.
