David Heads

David Heads, now a Partner and also the General Manager at Hinksey Heights Golf Course, designed and has been responsible for the installation of the first 18 of the projected 27 holes.

From 1964, when he joined Northumberland County Golf Course as Assistant Greenkeeper, David progressed to 1st Assistant at Arcot Hall Golf Course, Head Greenkeeper at Newbiggin-by-the-Sea Golf Course and then at Chester-le-Street Golf Course. He became Course Manager at Newbury & Cookham Golf Course. Between 1989 and 1993 he was Course Manager at Frilford Heath Golf Course, during which time he constructed an additional 18 holes to the existing 36.

In a consultancy role David Heads has acted as advisor to Peter Allis and Clive Clark Golf Consultants, Federated Golf Ltd and 0 & J House Golf Course Contractors. He has contributed to the building of Fullwood Park, Thoulstone Park, Waterstock, West Bristol, Castle Coombe, Dummer, Hatfield, Millgreen, Cambridge and Deanwood Golf Courses in the U.K. He has also acted as construction consultant abroad in Belgium at La Tournament, France at the St Tropez and Cherbourg golf courses and others in Majorca, Tunisia and Switzerland.
